Requirements for Propane Storage Tanks

Our qualified and licensed technicians will handle your propane tank installation from start to finish. All propane tank installations will meet every minimum local code requirement including the following:

  • Storage tanks may be set further away from home structure, but must meet minimum code requirements.
  • 10′ minimum off property-line that can be built upon.
  • Delivery trucks must have access to within 100′ of storage tank.
  • Minimum usage applies on all Diversified Energy owned tanks.
  • UNDERGROUND TANKS are available. Please check with local office for applicable purchase options

Underground Propane Gas Supply Storage Tanks

Our propane tanks are available in both underground and above ground versions depending on your requirements.

Installing an underground propane storage tank can be an ideal and environmentally friendly way to satisfy your propane requirements and increase your above-ground space. Underground propane tanks are constructed from corrosion resistant heavy steel. Only the tank dome will be required to stay above the ground for refilling, which can be more appealing for many homeowners and businesses.

Never try to handle a propane tank installation on your own or by hiring an unlicensed contractor. It is absolutely essential to hire a licensed company such as Diversified Energy for any underground propane tank installation. There are very strict placement requirements to ensure their safety, and they must be protected from vehicular traffic.

A small amount of excavation will be required, and most underground installations can be completed in a short period of time. You will need to meet with a representative from Diversified Energy in order to determine which tank size and option, above-ground or underground, will be best for your particular needs.
