About Kozy Heat
Fueled by a need to create a more efficient way to heat his father’s millwork shop in southern Minnesota during the embargo of 1976, Dudley Hussong, founder and Chairman of the Board, developed his idea of a more efficient fireplace and together, with Roland Koster, a local mason, they built aesthetically appealing, fuel efficient fireplaces for the home. As word spread, Kozy Heat soon sold fireplaces throughout the state.
Keeping it all in the family, Jim Hussong soon joined his father giving Dudley the opportunity to focus on research and development, while Jim focused on sales expansion and new product development. Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2016 and having added a third-generation to this family owned and operated business with the addition of Jim Hussong’s daughters, Heather and Hannah, Kozy Heat is a hot commodity throughout North America.

Choose from vented fireplaces, the direct vent gas fireplace, free standing stoves, or clean face traditional fireplaces, as well as well as fireplace inserts. Kozy Heat’s direct vent gas fireplace and free-standing stoves are high efficiency using over 75% propane gas, a clean-burning fuel, and a patented burner and log design. The zero-clearance wood burning fireplace is an EPA Certified model and is available in two options: one adaptable to a 6” chimney or a more traditional 2-door look with twin cast-iron doors.
