Why Diversified?

Diversified Energy was founded in February, 2000 by 19 of North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives. During the first year in business, Diversified purchased three of the largest independent propane distributors in central and eastern North Carolina. These three companies, Farm & Home Gas in northeastern NC; Tart Gas in the central section of NC and Collier Gas in southeastern NC represent the heart of our North Carolina retail operations.

Each of these companies had over 50 years in the business of propane distribution and service to their customers and by combining the staff and facilities of these companies, Diversified became one of the largest and most experienced propane distributors in North Carolina.

In the fall of 2000, Diversified acquired JF Energy Corporation in southeastern Pennsylvania. This acquisition brought a staff experienced in wholesale propane purchasing and distribution. In addition, JF had a construction division that is licensed in bulk plant construction and repair.

Both the Supply and Construction divisions provide support to Diversified Energy’s expanding retail operations in North Carolina, and to their wholesale and large volume retail customer base in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Safe efficient delivery of a quality product at competitive rates has promoted Diversified Energy to the propane gas company of choice for thousands of homes and businesses throughout an expanding service area.
